The New Community School is pleased to announce the third annual READ: Art Show & Sale, where over 100 artists will support young people with dyslexia, turning RED into READ.
For young people with dyslexia, the colors of life are often easier to embrace than the words. The challenges of reading and spelling can cause smart students to fail in school. That is why The New Community School exists. New Community is the only secondary school (grades 6-12) in Central Virginia devoted solely to restructuring the language skills of students with dyslexia, while challenging their intellect and preparing them for college.
Embracing color and art as expression unhindered by language barriers, the Parents Association created the READ: Art Show and Sale to raise funds for children who learn differently. The works of over 100 local and regional artists will be featured at the New Community School’s campus at 4211 Hermitage Road from February 24-27, 2011. A ticketed opening reception on Thursday, February 24 from 6-9 pm will offer the first chance to purchase exquisite works. The Gallery will continue to be open to the public Friday February 25th through Sunday, February 27th.
