Blue Guitar to Perform Later This Month At Reveler and Rare Old Times

Blue Guitar will be performing at Rare Old Times on August 28 from 7:30-9:30pm, and then at Reveler on August 30 from 3-5pm. The players are Dave Schieferstein on guitar, Jorge Santamaria, on drums and percussion, and Andy Penland on bass.

This instrumental trio plays everyone’s favorite rock, pop, R&B and jazz classics— the perfect background ambience for a gathering of friends, while offering unique instrumental arrangements you can “sink your ears” into.

The band’s name and inspiration comes, not from the color of Dave’s guitar (that came later), but from “The Man with the Blue Guitar”  a poem written in 1937 by Wallace Stevens.

This is from the first stanza of that poem:

They said, "You have a blue guitar,

You do not play things as they are."

The man replied, "Things as they are 

Are changed upon the blue guitar."

And they said then, "But play, you must,

A tune beyond us, yet ourselves,

A tune upon the blue guitar

Of things exactly as they are."
