Ginter in Bloom On the Northside

04.2026

The Ginter Park Residents Association is resuming spring home and garden tours, beginning with Ginter in Bloom. This tour showcases the captivating architecture, interior designs, and gardens of eight private residences in the historic Northside street-car suburbs established by Lewis Ginter.

On April 26 from noon till 5 spend a peak spring afternoon with friends touring an easy to drive-park-walk-bicycle route through Laburnum Park Historic District and Seminary Avenue in Historic Ginter Park, both designated as historic places by the National Trust for Historic Preservation.

While they were constructed between 1915 and 1931 and have been preserved and restored, all have been cleverly and colorfully amended and updated. From a 1926 Colonial Revival with a thoroughly contemporary open concept addition, to a 1925 traditional home with an expansive addition, these homes are diverse in their re-creations as homes for today.

Showcased gardens are diverse as well. Some are evergreen, sculpted, with variations in color and textures, with native trees, and broad, sweeping borders. One home on the tour has a greatly reduced lawn in the front garden and none in a back garden which is planted with many flowering plants and shrubs

The Ginter Park Home and Garden Tour is not just a pleasurable springtime event. When guests purchase tickets, they contribute to the good of the community. Proceeds benefit the St. Thomas Food Pantry and Shalom Farms, both nonprofits that address food insecurity.

Begin the tour anywhere that you like. Pause on a pedestrians-only block with a shaded, grassy central median to enjoy casual food and beverages by Bikini Panini and Real Ginger Thai Cuisine. For tickets, and instructions for picking up tour guide with map, please visit https://www.ginterpark.org/events.html#!event/2026/4/26/ginter-in-bloom-the-ginter-park-home-and-garden-tour
