CVWMA Will Host Region's First Recycling Fair on October 18
10.2025
The Central Virginia Waste Management Authority will host a Recycling Fair and Circularity Celebration from 10 am till 3 pm on Saturday, October 18 in Richmond’s Northside at 2100 West Laburnum Avenue.
The fair will feature free drive-through recycling opportunities, such as electronics recycling, document shredding and used clothing drop-off.
Participants are also invited to enjoy music, games and food trucks. Partner organizations will be onsite to share information about waste reduction, recycling and sustainability. The fair will be a zero-waste event. Food trucks will use compostable packaging that will be collected onsite.
The limit on paper shredding will be three paper bags or three banker's boxes per vehicle.
Almost anything with a plug is accepted for electronics recycling, as long as it's residential and not from a business (i.e., no businesses trying to unload a bunch of equipment at no cost). People can also bring cords, cables, smartphones, chargers and old DVDs, CDs, and VHS tapes.
Not accepted: Light bulbs, appliances containing Freon, thermostats, alkaline batteries, and certain other items.
CVWMA is a public-service authority established in 1990 to help the region meet state requirements for recycling. Curbside recycling is the authority’s most visible program, serving 200,000 households.
CVWMA partners with its 13 member localities to provide other programs that contribute to a circular economy for the region’s waste.
Since 1990, the authority’s recycling programs have returned more than $20 million back to the localities from the sale of recycled commodities.
The Recycling Fair and Circularity Celebration is sponsored by TFC Recycling, WM, GFL, Republic Services, Cascade Cart Solutions, Sims Metal, DRC Emergency Services, Ceres Environmental, TowneBank and MDB Strategies.
